I managed to remain calm till after the interview, when I looked up and saw Dave crying, (he will disavow this if you bring it up to him) it surprised me into having a good cry too.
All the details in the story are past now for me though. Please don't anyone go feeling sorry for me now.
I have had and continue to have a fantastic life. All that episode did was make me stronger to face the rest of life's challenges, and believe me, my adventures didn't end with that incident.
