Che Che Lazaro Blog about this story:
http://www.probeteam.com/cheche/2007/07/31/a-story-of-hope/#more-9

I have been asked why I finally decided to tell my story on National Philippine TV by several people.  I thought I would just write it down here to save time.

It was a very difficult decision, and one which I made only after I made it clear that it was not about naming names or blame.  It was about my experience and how I was able to overcome it, in spite of bouts of extended depression in my  life.  I did this only because several other young women were able to come out and tell their own parents after having read my story. I guess somehow my story created a safe space for them to admit their experience so their own healing can begin.

I am hoping that other women will also be able to overcome their tragedies, as I have struggled to do and achieved peace.

Right now, this is one of the best times in my life, in that I have come to terms with who I am, and although I am always trying to improve, I accept myself, my strengths and weaknesses and try to use them to make a better tomorrow for myself and the world around me. I believe we have the power to alter our own destiny.  If you believe in a thing, it can become real.

Humor is a good thing, and keeps ones' sanity, I try never to be so serious, that I cannot laugh at myself.

I have had the blessed fortune to have parents who never gave up on me, even when I had given up on myself.  To them I will be forever grateful, and there is nothing in this world more powerful to me than their combined unconditional love.

I also have those few people I have chosen and members of my family that I love and have in my life (you know who you are) who are more valuable to me than all the riches this world has to offer.  Their combined love, support, advice and camaraderie give me strength and joy.

This is a tough world to live in under the best of circumstances, and although this has been a hard life for me to live, I have done and continue do so with the utmost of gusto and appreciation.  Gratitude is the one word that comes to mind first when I think of my life.

For the strength this experience has given me, I am grateful.

This and all experiences after, have allowed me the strength, dignity and determination to live from choice of actions.  Darkness that once was my domain, is now only something that happens when the sun goes down, and not what consumes my soul.

To those I love and who love me, thank you for your love, kindness, support, inspiration and sharing, you are my heart.

My heart doth yet rejoice when the dancers have all gone home and the tambourines have all been stilled - Diana 1976

To those who have hurt me, I forgive you.
To those I have hurt, forgive me.

Now go and be all that you can be.

Pinsan, I remember you telling me you were abducted before, but I had no idea as to the extent of your full experience. To go through that and everything else that you've experienced would have broken the average person. You are one hell of a fighter and when the day is done, will be led out of this world kicking and screaming. Bravo to your brave soul!

Thanks mga pinsan for writing in, it really isn't about being brave for me. It was the other young women who came out to tell their stories after reading mine who inspired me to do this, in the hopes that even more women will be helped.

Perhaps God spared me in order to helps others. I don't know. I only know that if this story helps one other woman, it will have been worth it.

I love you, all my pinsans! Even if it's from afar.

Diana, I hope justice will be served for the people who do this unthinkable acts to minors. Through your courage going to National TV, this should propel others to join in the cause and will be a healing factor for there own personal development.

For you to come through such a terrible experience with the integrity, down-to-earthness, strength, clear judgement and vision you have, is a testament to the human spirit, and yours in particular. Many people would spend their lives in bitterness and fear after being brutalized and victimized like that, and it took such courage and character for you to overcome it, I am SO proud of you!! You have a loving heart and soul, filled with a light that can't be extinguished. It took a lot of courage for you to come forward with your story, and for the highest purpose, to help others who've been victimized to understand that they're not alone, that they too can come forward and tell their story, and not keep it bottled up inside twisting them into knots. Your strength and spirit carried you through that, and helped make you the incredible woman you are. Having you in my life is the greatest blessing I've known. You are a lioness!
